How to care for FP Field waxed canvas bags
- Never wash your waxed canvas product in a washing machine.
- Never use warm or hot water to clean any waxed canvas product.
- Never ever put your waxed canvas product in a dryer.
- Never use detergents or bleach.
- Extreme heat will break down the wax coating.
To clean your FP Field waxed canvas bags, lightly brush off dried mud and dirt with a brush. Start with cold water for cleaning. Lightly spray the area, gently use a scrub brush, rinse, and let it dry. Do not use detergents or bleach as this will ruin the wax coating. Oily substances will simply become a part of the material. Do not try to clean them. There is no good way to clean oil without damaging the wax and compromising the water-resistant properties of the finish. The beauty of waxed canvas is that age, stains, and wear develop a beautiful, unique patina that tells the stories of your adventures.
After a period of time, if you find the canvas drying out and wish to retreat it, you may re-wax your finished product with Carr Textile Tex Wax Oil / Refinishing Ointment. A little heat from a hair dryer always helps. You may notice your waxed canvas softening on a hot day. This is not a concern, and the material will return to normal when it’s back at room temperature. We do not recommend leaving your waxed canvas product in your hot car all summer long. You may also notice that your waxed canvas product will be a little stiff if not used regularly. This should not be of concern, as it will soften after re-use.
